My Friend Nelson's Dream
A boy called Nelson came to study in our class. He said he had AIDS. We felt sorry for him, but no one talked to him. He was always alone.
One day, everyone in the class made a speech. Nelson said, " I was born with HIV and now I have AIDS. There are many children like me in the world. If people understand more about HIV and AIDS, those children can live better lives. I want to work for the children with AIDS in the future." I was moved by Nelson's speech. I decided to talk to him. During class I asked," Do you have a pen?" Nelson smiled and said, " Here, please use it." This was the beginning of our friendship. Soon, other students became his friends, too.
Five months later, Nelson couldn't come to school because his disease got worse. Each student in our class wrote a card for him. I brought the cards to Nelson. He said, "Now I know I am not alone."
Then he showed me a pen and said, "Do you remember this? This is the pen I lent to you when you first talk to me. You had your own pen,didn't you? He was right. I did have my own. He said, "This pen gave many friend to me. Will you keep it for me?"
Now I keep that pen with me. When I see it , I always remember my good friend and his words.
